After over a year of hard work, we have finally made it to our longest vacation during our contract, a whopping 9 days! This is one of the few perks of signing a 19 month contract. To celebrate we have decided to make our way over to the Philippines. It was so hard for us (by us I mean ME) to choose just one destination for our vacation since the Philippines consists over 7,000 islands! After plenty of research we (I) made our (my) decision...
In three short days we will be in El Nido, Philippines!!
El Nido is on the island of Palawan and is a truly unique place. It is surrounded by ageless limestone cliffs and has over 50 beautiful white sanded beaches. It also has many neighboring uninhabited islands that are assessable by boat or kayak.

This will be our first destination in SE Asia (minus South Korea obviously) and we are pretty stoked to immerse ourselves in the Filipino culture.
Since we are traveling there in September (their rainy season), there might be less crowds and better hotel prices. Just keep your fingers crossed for no typhoons!
The plan:
We get into Puerto Princesa (the main city on Palawan) at 8:10am on Sunday. Two of our friends will already be there and will have purchased bus tickets for us to get to El Nido. The bus ride is 5-7 hours with over half of the roads unpaved. Even if the roads are bumpy, it will be a part of the adventure. I'm actually looking forward to the drive. I read we will be driving along the coast and in the green mountains. It should be beautiful!
Our El Nido Bucket List:
Snorkeling, island hopping, eating fresh fruits and locally caught fish, relaxing on the beach, pampering ourselves with cheap massages on the beach and maybe even scuba diving!
